It’s raining, it’s pouring… it just can’t seem to stop raining in Atlanta!

I just have some highlights from the weekend- it was my 26th birthday yesterday and I fully enjoyed it! I loved that my birthday fell on a Saturday this year… that meant that I got to celebrate all weekend.

On Friday night, we went to see the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Trombone Shorty at Smith’s Olde Bar. The music was great, but what I loved more was that the upstairs was non-smoking! I don’t like going out that much because Atlanta is behind on the times and smoky bars DRIVE. ME. NUTS.

Trombone Shorty!

On Saturday, Tobey and I went to Souper Jenny’s for lunch. Yes, the line was out the door and yes, it was worth it. I got “My Dad’s Turkey Chili.”

After lunch, we went to Lululemon, where I proceeded to try on everything in the store. (Hey! It was my birthday!) I’ve never bought anything before because I’ve heard that it’s addicting, so I may become an addict now. I got a pair of Groove pants (they’re being hemmed so I don’t have them yet), a tank top, and a gym bag. Have you been bitten by the Lululemon bug yet?

Oh, and there has been plenty of this all weekend…

Red velvet, red velvet!

One piece per day keeps the doctor away, right? I sent the rest of the cake home with my dad and brother tonight… and mom, too, if they don’t finish it before she gets to it. 🙂

This morning, we went to Rosebud for brunch. How cute is this ketchup bottle?

I ordered the breakfast bowl- it had grits, bacon, cherry tomatoes, poached egg and cheddar cheese in it. Total comfort food in a bowl.

Tonight, I met my family for church and then we went to Atlanta Fish Market for dinner. I didn’t take any pictures because the lighting was so low – so low that the menus were hard to read – but I had the chopped salad and the california roll.

I hope that you have a great start to the week…

What a day! I really can’t believe that it’s only Tuesday. Work was crazy because in addition to my normal work, I am the back-up dancer for a guy who is out on vacation all week.

I got out my camera this morning to show you guys what I normally eat for breakfast: oatmeal at my desk.

In the plastic-

  • 1/2 c oats
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 c canned pumpkin
  • 1/4 c skim milk
  • 1 tbs graham cracker crumbs
  • ~1 tbs chocolate chips
  • 1 tbs Bees Knees peanut butter

As far as lunch goes, some days I go home for lunch and other days I eat at my desk. I rarely go out for lunch- It’s a huge money saver and I don’t really enjoy eating out at lunch. Today was an eat at my desk kind of day. I grabbed some salad (no dressing) and a mini vanilla bean cupcake from a meeting, and heated up a Lean Cuisine. Not the most nutritious, but it did the trick so I just went with it.

Do you guys ever have those days when you’re so busy all day that you just want to go home after work and relax? I was so tempted to do that, but I had my yoga bag in the car and I knew that I’d feel much better if I just went to yoga tonight. So from not yoga to hot yoga I went. 🙂

Ahh… 90 minutes of bliss. It was 7:30 by the time I got home, so I wanted something quick for dinner.

On the plate-

  • brown rice
  • black beans
  • sea salt
  • cumin
  • paprika
  • farm fresh egg

My co-worker was nice enough to bring in some eggs from his farm! He told me that the eggs you buy in the store are already 2-3 weeks old, so these will stay fresh for much longer. I love it when he brings in food from his farm- watermelon, tomatoes, you name it and he will bring it!

Do you see what I have on the background? TMZ… I love that show and think that Harvey Levin is hilarious. Do you ever watch it?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a piece of cake to eat. I saved a piece from last night and sent the rest home with the birthday crowd!

Piece of Cake

I raced home from work so that I could go walking before the sun went down, but wow, the time change was definitely noticeable today! The weather was perfect but not even half way into my walk, the sun was setting. The trail that I walk is ~4.4 miles door to door, so it takes me anywhere from 50-65 minutes, depending on how much I’m talking. My sister is having her first baby within the next week, so of course we had to catch up!

Let’s go for a walk…

Gorgeous fall colors…

The sun is starting to set… I better get moving!

Another full moon?

I’m going to meet my mom, dad, brother and sister right now for dinner. My parents are just getting back from vacation, so we’re finally celebrating my mom’s birthday (Oct 26th), my brother’s birthday (Nov 1st), and my dad’s birthday (today). My brother requested red velvet cake, so I picked one up from Piece of Cake, aka Heaven on Earth. If you live in Atlanta, PLEASE tell me that you have been there before!

Enjoy the evening!
