The List

Saturday morning and I slept in until 9:30… does life get any better than that? It wasn’t too hard to sleep in this morning since it’s raining outside!

I have been thinking lately that I don’t spend enough time being grateful for the things that make me happy… so, I started by making a list yesterday! It’s kind of funny when I look back on it, but here it is.

1. There aren’t pieces of drywall all over my office floor anymore! I’m a neat freak so the fact that someone cleaned this up made me really happy.  There is some major construction going on on the offices next to me, so for the past few weeks, I have heard drilling and banging all day long. And drywall has been falling all over my desk and floor.

2. The space heater that I have under my desk.

3. I finally tracked down a package from Fedex. We shipped wine back from CA, so it required an adult signature. And well, what are the chances that you’ll be home when a package gets delivered? Slim to none, I’ve learned. So I finally got it on the FOURTH attempt.

4. I got a $50 no-show fee removed. This takes a lot longer than I would ever imagine and was frustrating since I did show up for my doctor’s appointment.

5, My Lululemon groove pants are ready! I had to have them hemmed… which is weird to type, because I’m tall and normally pants are too short…

6. Happy hour and dinner with friends!

I met Elizabeth and Caitlin after work yesterday for happy hour. I had a blue velvetini martini, which was made with acai-bluberry vodka, lemon juice and blackberries.

I also had a glass of sauvignon blanc.

After that, we headed over to Three Dollar Cafe. I had never been there before so the first thing that I asked Elizabeth was if everything is $3. Everything is not $3, but it is inexpensive. 🙂

I had a chicken parmesan sandwich for dinner with a side of fries. The sandwich was good – totally fried and buttery – but the fries were bland, so I didn’t finish them.

I’m off to pilates.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Hey guys! Happy weekend!

Does Friday the 13th freak anyone else out? It’s like I’m just waiting for something weird to happen… oh, and I even get nervous when I’m driving! I realize that it’s not rational to think something bad is going to happen because of the day/date, but I’m pretty superstitious. 😉

I met Elizabeth and Lauren at Rio Grande after work… I figured that I may as well enjoy tonight since I plan on studying for the rest of the weekend! I like Rio Grande because it’s more laid-back than most places in Buckhead. Don’t get me wrong, I love Buckhead, but it can be a little over the top sometimes.

By the time I got there, the pitcher was just about gone… hmm.

Elizabeth, Lauren, Me:

I had a margarita to-go (no, I wasn’t driving)…

We went to Kevin’s office (Lauren’s fiance) to hang out. How cool is it that they all like each other enough to hang out on a Friday night?

Next, Elizabeth and I went down the street for a repeat visit to Bistro Niko. It was much more exciting during happy hour than it was during dinner! There was a much older, more sophisticated crowd there tonight…

I had a glass of Just sauvignon blanc, just like last time!

There was a couple sitting at the table behind the glasses – awkward set-up – and the girl actually got mad that I was taking a picture! No, I don’t want a picture of your boyfriend… it’s for the love of the blog! lol

I just had some leftovers from last night (spaghetti squash, marinara sauce, turkey meatballs) and now I’m ready for a good night’s sleep!

Do you have plans that you’re looking forward to this weekend?

The weekend… finally! I just got home from The Real Housewives Bloggers of Atlanta dinner at Seasons 52. More on that in a minute…

After work, I met Lauren and Elizabeth at Red Door, a little neighborhood bar in Buckhead. They’re pet-friendly, so Lauren brought her two pups and we sat on the patio. I loved that the weather was nice enough to sit outside and chat… I hate smoky bars and try to avoid them at all costs!

Keepin’ it classy. 😉

Before I knew it, it was time to go on a blind date to a blogger meet-up… at Seasons 52! Funny story- 30 minutes had gone by and we were still waiting for Emily and Kelly and we were like, “I wonder where they are? That would be weird if they didn’t show up since they’re riding together.”

Then, we get a call from the other Seasons 52 in Atlanta… they went to that one! Luckily, they’re troopers and booked it back across town to meet us.

We started with rosemary and parmesan cheese crispbread and I had a glass of Brampton Sauvignon Blanc. I ordered the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad for dinner. It was okay, but honestly, I think I was so excited to meet these girls that I wasn’t that interested in my dinner!

And for dessert? I had the pumpkin pie with ginger snap crust… obsessed!

From L to R: Emily, Liz, Laura, Lee, Angie, Kelly

It was so much fun to meet such sweet, down to earth girls and I would love to meet up again. The one thing that kept cracking me up is that even though we’ve never met before, I felt like I knew so much about everyone! Some people get shy when they meet new people and I, um, talk way too much. 🙂

Good night!

Such a fun day!

When a friend emails you at 4:00 and asks if you want to grab a drink after work, what do you say? Yes, of course. 🙂

I was so excited to see Caitlin (just home from her honeymoon in Bora Bora… sigh), so I met her and Elizabeth at Bistro Niko. I have been pretty obsessed with going to this place since I read about it opening today on Daily Candy.

I couldn’t help but laugh when I got a text from Caitlin that said, “I was officially their first customer and they all started clapping!”

I was thisclose to ordering their elderflower and sauvignon blanc cocktail, but we all decided to just go with the only French sauvignon blanc that we could pronounce- Just.

It was just what I wanted and I loved that they had a wide price range on their wine list. When I think of places to go for happy hour, I want people-watching and budget-friendly. What do you look for in bars and restaurants (other than good food)?

The perfect pour:

A packed house kitchen…

After happy hour, I met my friend Wendy next door to see Couples Retreat at 7:30. I know, I know… the movie has been out forever and I still haven’t seen it!

Fork & Screen is a great theatre… they serve food and drinks! It’s better to wait a few weeks to see a movie there- the theatres are small so they get packed pretty quickly.

I was hungry so I ordered the veggie quesadillas. They were filled with peppers, tomatoes, and cheese… they weren’t stellar, but they weren’t bad, either!

I didn’t think the movie was that great. There were a bunch of good actors in it and the setting was gorgeous, but it wasn’t as funny/clever as I thought it was going to be. Did you guys see it? What did you think?

Finally Friday tomorrow… I’m definitely looking forward to it! 😉
